Sing when you’re winning!

Five hundred workers at Service Birmingham's B1 building were 'flashmobbed' by 60 young singers recently.

Greenholm Primary School pupils performed their school anthem, composed as part of their Citizenship programme funded by Service Birmingham's Staff Benefit Scheme.

The Greenholm School Anthem was performed as a surprise 'thank-you' to Service Birmingham staff for the £1000 donation towards school funds.

Music and arts is one of the areas used in the citizenship programme which aims to encourage youngsters to take pride in their school and surrounding community. The school teamed up with staff from the Hippodrome in producing the anthem.

Head teacher Gill Turner said: "The citizenship programme is a vital part of the learning journey for pupils at our school and we wanted to say 'thank you' in a different kind of way. We really enjoyed surprising all the people at Service Birmingham and I hope they enjoyed our performance."

Stewart Wren said: "The surprise visit certainly brightened up our day and was a welcome reminder to our staff what the Staff Benefit Scheme can achieve on the ground. Well done to the young people involved."

Service Birmingham, the joint venture between Capita and Birmingham City Council uses 5% of its profits to form its Staff Benefit Scheme, which helps promote employee volunteering or finances small grants to charitable organisations and individuals with a suitable cause. Staff can recommend where the funding goes.
