Working for Service Birmingham

"Service Birmingham is a great company to work for"

Annette Daley, Resourcing Manager, People Matters Team, Service Birmingham.

Annette joined Service Birmingham in April 2006, when the partnership between  Capita and Birmingham City Council was first established.

"I now work as the Resourcing Manager for Service Birmingham, as part of the People Matters Team. Over the past 2 years my role has expanded to facilitate and manage recruitment across the whole organisation, including Business Transformation and the core ICT teams. This has meant developing a whole set of procedures and processes, providing associated guidance and support to both managers and staff and leading on a number of initiatives across the organisation.

"Up to October 2005 I was an Applications Manager for the Revenues Service in Birmingham City Council, supporting the Council Tax and Business Rates system. I moved into a project assurance role and then helped develop the Council's Corporate GIS project in its early stages."

As her involvement in the project came to an end, Annette explored opportunities within Service Birmingham that would use and develop her skills.

Annette's current role is very different to those she has previously been involved in but she's been able to apply her skills as an analyst and project manager to develop a thorough understanding of what is required in a fast paced, transformation and IT based environment.

The move into this role has also given Annette the opportunity to qualify as a Prince 2 practitioner and to work with a number of partners within the Capita Group.

"The creation of Service Birmingham has made a positive impact on my career. It's provided some interesting challenges, has opened up a variety of  opportunities for me to apply my existing skills and encouraged me to develop some new skills".
